Let’s talk about TRIGGERS!
When I was preparing my novel If All Would Be Utopia, the subject matter triggered me in ways I didn’t anticipate. Although the story itself is fiction, the themes presented (domestic violence, rape, and sexual harassment) are a tremendous problem in our society, and one I am no stranger to. Oftentimes, victims of domestic violence are left feeling alone and powerless, many living out this tragic existence in complete secrecy, exacerbating their already-present feeling of isolation. DV doesn’t care about boundaries and affects every race, ethnicity, religion, culture, education level, socioeconomic status, and gender. Sometimes, it’s hard to realize or accept that you are a victim of these crimes. As you navigate this difficult path, know that you are not alone!
Healthy Relationships
have communication and boundaries. Other components are: trust, support, understanding, connection, personal space, and respect. This list is in no way all encompassing. Search your heart and come to a conclusion about whether your personal relationships are healthy or toxic.
Stop to end violence now.
Around 20% of violent crimes are committed by an intimate partner. Gun possession in a home with domestic violence present raises the chance of homicide by 500% or more! Only 34% of victims injured by their partner end up receiving medical care.
